Kathy WebbUtah State DoE Dear Kathy – great to speak with you yesterday. As promised, I am cc: Ed Gloninger who is heading up our CETL certification efforts. My suggestion is that we set up a call to talk to him to explore options for how the State of Utah might build human capacity in the 42 Utah school districts and 85 charter schools.Attached is a media release that just went out today on the new CETL pricing. And, there is also information on our website:http://www.cosn.org/Certification/tabid/9022/Default.aspxWhat’s the Cost of the Exam? The costs to sit for the CETL exam are:
CoSN Member: $299 ($150 nonrefundable)
Retake fee: $200 per exam part per retake
Nonmember: $499 ($180 nonrefundable)
Retake fee: $200 per exam part per retake

Payment plans are available—please contact the certification team for details. You also asked about the preparatory materials for preparing to take the CETL exam. Here is information on that also:
http://www.cosn.org/Certification/ExamPreparationMaterials/tabid/9224/Default.aspxBulk discounts are available! Pricing of preparatory materials:

$315 (10% off)
$495 (10% off)
$295 (15% off)
$469 (15% off)
11 +
$259 (25% off)
$415 (25% off)
As I mentioned, a number of states are offering online or blended test prep courses using these materials. And, some state departments, such as Indiana, are providing scholarships toward taking the exam and preparatory PD. We would love to explore the best options to make that happen in Utah. Finally, if you are trying to create more human capacity at the district and charter level around technology, I would recommend you bundle this into the creation of a CoSN state chapter in Utah. I am cc: Dresden Farrand who is our Director of Membership & Chapters. State DoE’s have played an important facilitation role in other states. The benefit of that is that there is a professional community for district leaders in your state. Dresden can send you information on the benefits for districts that are members of CoSN, plus it dramatically lowers the cost of CETL certification because you get member pricing.

      • My suggestion is that we arrange a conference call to explore these options. It is a bit complicated to do this all via email. Here are days, times that work for me:Wed May 1st anytime except 11-noon or 2:30-3:30Tues., May 7th before 11:30Fri., May 10th before noonI am very excited about this opportunity!
